About the Film
Set in Aspen, Colorado, in 1992, GONZO GIRL follows Alley Russo (Camila Morrone), an aspiring writer who lands her dream job as assistant to legendary journalist and author Walker Reade (Willem Dafoe).
Thrust into his psychedelic, drug-fueled world, Alley finds herself navigating the blurred lines between ambition, codependence, and self-preservation as she struggles to help the once-celebrated literary icon complete his long-awaited novel—by any means necessary.
At its heart, GONZO GIRL examines creativity, identity, validation, addiction, power, and the complicated relationships that shape the stories we tell about ourselves. Alley’s journey asks a fundamental question:
Who is writing your story?
