THEATER ARTS PROGRAM Acting/Improv Workshops In this interactive workshop, small groups of volunteer actors offer pediatric patients a wide range of participatory improvisation games, age appropriate acting exercises and hands on opportunities to work with stage make-up, costumes and props. Active Imaginations Theatrical Program This 8-week workshop focuses on acting, playwriting and staging with the guidance of imaginative artists in those fields. The workshop run culminates with a performance. Both options are flexible to the level and capability of each child “playwright” or “actor”. Laugh It Up Comedy Workshops Through zany improvisations, writing, joke telling and games children are able to find their laughter. Professional comedians perform and engage the children to join in and develop their own comedic personality. These amusements can become fodder for KIDS Radio. Take 2-Film Making Workshops Cinematographers, screenwriters, film editors, set designers, musicians, makeup artists, hair and costume designers all join in to this workshop geared to teach the art of movie making. Children will work from their own screen play, act, sing or dance. They will work together to select music to support a scene, shoot footage, and edit the film. Each child will have a role in creating a film. Turn Around Plays With the help of actors, writers, directors and producers, children have the opportunity to create their own masterpiece in a two-hour workshop. As children have the opportunity to express themselves and share their experiences, they learn the basic stages of playwriting, acting and staging.
