SELF ESTEEM PROGRAMS

Girl Talk and Yo Lo Tengo!
These programs were initially established in conjunction with a Clinical Psychologist at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles to help adolescent girls and boys (10-16 years of age) who have facial disfigurement and scarring due to medical conditions. Girls and boys attend 8-week courses designed to decrease depression and anxiety, increase body image and self-esteem, and build social skills. The Art of Elysium provides creative workshops in art, dance, acting, design, martial arts, and makeovers.

The Makeover Project
Many children have experienced facial disfigurement and/or scarring due to medical conditions. The Art of Elysium brings professional makeup artists and hairstylists to help teach adolescent children (10-18 years of age) how to creatively use makeup and style their hair to help them feel confident and establish a positive self image.

The Homebound Project
Many seriously ill children are discharged from the hospital but are not allowed to leave their home to go to school or spend time with other children their age. The Art of Elysium has teamed with The Talia Seidman Foundation to inspire medically fragile children by enabling them to speak and interact with actors and musicians as well as their classmates at school through videoconferencing technology.

Once Upon A Time Workshops
This special program brings children together with writers and illustrators to create original books. Patients can tell their own life story or dig deep into their imaginations to conjure up something fictional. A professional author will help facilitate the writing process and an artist will illustrate the final story. The Art of Elysium will bind the finished work into a special book that the child can keep forever.
